Testing

Test Items:

Signing of the Responsible Dog Owner's Pledge

Accepting a friendly stranger (Allows friendly stranger to approach it and speak to the handler)

Sitting politely for petting (Allow a friendly stranger to pet head/body.)

Appearance and grooming (Proper weight, clean, healthy and alert accepts comb/brushing  examination of ears/feet)

Out for a walk (walking on a loose lead right turn, left turn, and an about turn with at least one stop)

Walking through a crowd (walk around and pass close to several people3+)

Sit and down on command (must do sit AND down on command,)

Staying in place  (sit or down Handler leaves 20ft while dog stays until returns & is released)

Coming when called (10 feet from the dog, turn to face the dog, and call the dog)

Reaction to another dog (2 handlers and dogs approach stop, shake hands and continue on)

Reaction to distraction (can be either noise or sudden movement)

Supervised separation (dog is left with stranger for 2min while owner out of sight)

AKC Fetch titles are fun to earn and can be used as a required AKC title for earning the Gold level of AKC FIT DOG.

PUPPY (4mo -one year): Owner Pets (head/chin, shoulders, back), Grooming (back/chest), Sit on Command (Can Lure), Down on Command (Can Lure), Recall (10ft inside), Go to place/crate (Stay 15sec), Housetrained (Describe how trained), Demonstrates Relationship Plays Indoors(Choose 1: Toy/Stuffed Animal, ball, simple trick, preferred game), Out for a Walk (outside on leash 20ft straight line), Exercise Outside ( Fetch/toy/swimming/running)

ADULT (4mo and older):  Owner Pets then Grooms Dog (head/chin, shoulders, back, chest, belly; check ears & Feet), Sit on Command (No Lure), Down on Command (No Lure), Recall Indoors (20ft or another room), Food Manners (Puts food down OR gives snack), Doorbell/Knock (Dog behaves appropriately), Go to place/crate (Stay 1min), Demonstrates Relationship Plays Indoors(Choose 1: Hide/seek, Scent Game 3 cups, Do a Trick, Toy/Stuffed Animal), Out for a Walk (Door Manners & Walking on a loose leash), Exercise Outside (Choose 1:  Fetch/catch disk/toy or other)
